Al-Maturidi is one of the prominent scholars of the Ahl al-Sunnah. Inaddition to his prominence in the field of Kalam, he created a unique method inthe way the Qur’an is understood. He formulated his method through amethodological understanding and expression. He offered a method of tabligh byemphasizing that Islam should be understood and taught to people by means ofthe Qur’an and authentic hadiths. According to him, a mind/reason-focusedreligious presentation based on the Qur’an and the Prophet is required. It isso because reason (aql) is functions as an “arbitrator” in properlyunderstanding the religious sources. Therefore, the religious tabligh shouldprimarily aim for people’s reason. This is the only method that can be adaptedfor both Muslims and non- Muslims. Al-Maturidi’s approach is especiallyimportant for today’s religious officials tasked with the religiouspresentation. His religious tabligh method becomes even more valuable today inthat it enables young people to evaluate all religious values through thefilter of reasoning and logic, and it allows for dealing with the religiousorders through reasoning other than simply communicating.
