Muslim teologians played an important role in the tradition of refutation and muslim-christian discussions which began from the earliest times. Samarqand region as a cradle to different religions and cultures has a undeniable position in tradition of muslim-christian discussion. It has been understood that Samarqandi who is represantative of the hanafi-maturidi school in Ma Wara’un Nahr with his wide knowledge about history of Christianity, the Bible and with his quotations from Gospels has an important position in this tradation. As well as the thought of God, which is based on the incarnation, is the center of his criticism, he dealt with the historical transformation of Christianity by using the method of historical criticism. Samarqandi, in addition to criticising incarnation by using the deduction arguments, he quoted many passages from the Bible to refute it. In this paper, Samarqandi’s criticism to the Christian teology, particularly the idea of God has been discussed within the framework of these two methods. By doing so, we tired to determine the position of hanafi-maturidi school in the tradition of refutation
