In this article, I shall deal with the issue of knowledge and faith in thetradition of Islamic thought, with special reference to the views of thethinkers on the Hanafi-Maturudi school. In doing so, the main questions towhich I will seek answers are: Why is it man's first and most fundamental dutyto know the existence of God? Why is it not a right way to believe in the existenceof God without proof? What does the Qur'an say about those who imitate the wayof the ancestors blindly? What are the sources ofknowledge for humans? How is it possible to know the existence of God as anon-sensible entity? What is the difference between knowledge and faith? Whatkind of relationship is there between knowledge, faith and trust?
