One of the methods of identifying the development and transformation of the theological sects and their transplantation from one region to another, is to focus on the content of commentaries written on Mukhtasars, as well as to determine the fundamental reasons for which the mukhtasar in question was preferred, in which period the commentaries and glosses were written and became widespread, and what the main purposes of these commentaries were. It should be stated that this work, which touches on important issues such as the reasons of Tahawi's (d. 321/933) writing of the text "al-Aqida" in Egypt, which is referred to as the western region of the Islamic world, the spread of the Tahawi’s Mukhtasar and the rediscovery of "al-Aqida" by Abu'l-Mu'in al-Nasafi (d. 508/1115) following the transmission of Mukhtasar to Mawara'un-nahr (Transoxiana), and the numerous commentaries written on “al-Aqida”, fills a huge gap in the field of theology and history of sects. Among the distinguishing aspects of the book we review are the author's exposure of the stages through which the text integrated with the Maturidi tradition by means of the works on tabaqāt, history, theology, and maqālāt, and his examination of Ibn Abi' al-'Izz's (d. 792/1390) objections to the Maturidi tradition through his commentary. Our study, which includes the introduction and evaluation of the book written by Ihsan TIMUR, discusses the importance of the Timur’s book in terms of theology and history of Islamic sects and its contributions for the Islamic thought, and also poses some objections to the main questions of the thesis.
