Mâtürîdî'ye göre tasdîk, salt bilgisel bir kabul değil, bilinçli ve iradi bir eylemdir. Kişi, aklıyla ulaştığı bilgiyi kalbiyle onaylar; bu onay zorunlu bir süreç olmayıp kişinin özgür seçimine bağlıdır. Bu nedenle iman, ma'rifet (bilgi) ile eş tutulmaz — bilmek inanmak değildir.

Māturīdī defines taṣdīq not merely as cognitive acceptance but as a deliberate, voluntary act of the heart. Knowledge (maʿrifa) alone does not constitute faith; one must actively choose to affirm what one has come to know through reason.
