Mâtürîdî, tekvîni (yaratma) ezeli bir sıfat olarak kabul ederek Eş'arîlerden ayrılmıştır. Eş'arîlere göre yaratma fiili kadîm değildir; Mâtürîdî ise tekvîn sıfatının Allah'ın diğer sübûtî sıfatları gibi ezelî olduğunu, yaratılan şeylerin (mükevven) ise hâdis olduğunu savunmıştır. Bu ayrım Mâtürîdîlik ile Eş'arîlik arasındaki temel kelâmî farklardan biridir.

Māturīdī considers takwīn (creation) an eternal attribute of God, distinguishing between the eternal act of creating and the temporal objects of creation (mukawwan). This position separates Māturīdī theology from Ashʿarī theology, which does not grant takwīn the status of an independent eternal attribute.
